AMONG FRIENDS 4 is a wrap! This year’s iteration took place at Metaphor Projects in Downtown Brooklyn, thanks to Rene Lynch and Julian Jackson for opening their space up to us. This exhibition explores nature as a dynamic process of growth, transformation, and renewal, featuring six artists whose practices engage with the natural world not simply as image, but as material, surface, time, and change. Through acts of rubbing, pressing, scraping, layering, compressing, and imprinting, the artists reveal the often unseen forces that shape our environment, tracing the marks of weather, growth, erosion, and decay.
Together, these works invite viewers to slow down and look closely—to notice textures, traces, and subtle shifts that might otherwise go unseen. Rooted in observation and process, the exhibition encourages a deeper awareness of our connection to the natural world and the interconnected cycles of light, matter, and time that shape both nature and ourselves.
